There's a cool place where you can buy gently-used books for 50 cents each, and even kids' books cost one dollar for five! Guess where? The Book Sale at the Eudora Welty Library! Some books are like new. Open Monday-Thursday from 9 a.m.-6 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. (Closed for lunch from 1-2 p.m.) For more information, call 601-968-3519.

The English as a Second Language class consists of lessons and activities designed to primarily improve English conversational skills. Listening and comprehension will be achieved through an all-English immersive environment.

English language learners of various levels are welcome. Adolescents, adults, and senior adults are all welcome. Registration at the Medgar Evers Library is required. The ESL classes are held every Tuesday and Thursday at the Medgar Evers Library from 2:30-3:30 PM. Mr. James Hampton is the instructor.

Chess Club - It's your move! Want to increase your memory and concentration or practice logical thinking skills? Instruction is offered the first half hour for beginners followed by an hour of play for attendees of all levels at the Medgar Evers Library. Chess boards are provided and library materials are available for further learning. This is a recurring event and takes place on the first Saturday of each month at 2:00 PM starting September 7. Medgar Evers Library | September 27, 2019

Join Ms. Erica Cousin of Safe Kids MS for a child passenger safety program (car seat, booster seats, etc.) in the format of a PowerPoint game show. The game show will be interactive with music, video clips and a question-and-answer session. There will also be fun coloring and activity sheets for the kids. The program starts at 10:00 AM at the Medgar Evers Library on September 27. See you there!
