All of our 15 library branches offer wireless printing services for laptop computer users.

• JHLS Interlibrary Loan Program

If you are searching for a book but cannot find it in our library collections, try our Interlibrary Loan Service made available through OCLC and Worldcat.org. Worldcat.org is an online catalog with over 2 billion entries from 10,000 libraries all over the world.

• MAGNOLIA State-Funded Online Databases

The MAGNOLIA state-funded research database website provides free access to high-quality journal articles and other information for all ages and educational levels.

• Morningstar Investment Research Center

The Morningstar Investment Research Center is now available for investors at the Eudora Welty Library in downtown Jackson. Use one of the most comprehensive investment online tools available today at no cost on library premises. Use your own laptop or one of our high-speed public access computers.

• Get2College Center (Sponsored by ESF)

Geared to students that may be preparing to go to college, the site has information about free ACT and SAT classes, financial aid, FAFSA preparation and a wealth of other topics.

• EBSCO Database Services

EBSCO Publishing offers a broad range of full text and bibliographic databases designed to meet the reference needs of elementary, high school and college students. This powerful, one-stop reference center has journal sources with information on literary criticism, business, health, computer, library and a wide variety of other subjects.

• Chilton's Online Automobile Repair Manuals

Put yourself in the driver's seat by accessing the JHLS Chilton's online repair databases available 24/7 from the library system's web page. Use this free resource when you need information about automobile and other engines from the year 1940 onwards. Chilton's contains print manuals and video clips to aid with engine repair work.

You will need your library barcode to use this database.

• Foundation Center Online

Are you searching for foundations that can give money to your non-profit organization? Check out the Foundation Center Online available at the Eudora Welty Library on a computer workstation adjacent to the reference desk.

• Clarion Ledger Online

Your Jackson Hinds Library barcode allows you to view the online archives of the Clarion Ledger back to 2003.

• Ancestry.Com Library Edition

If your family tree is still missing a few branches, stop into Welty or Quisenberry Library to use one of the premier genealogical research tools at no cost. Search over 11 million genealogical records and 30,000 family records to find your family history.

• Capital Area Bar Association Law Library

Eudora Welty Library hosts the CABA (Capital Area Bar Association) Online Law Library Service computers. Two research computers allow the public to search the Lexis Nexis legal databases. These services are available during regular library hours.

Celebrate the Margaret Walker Alexander Centennial by reading Jubilee, the book chosen by Mayor Tony Yarber as the 2015 Jackson Reads selection. Jubilee is the true story of the maternal grandmother of Margaret Walker, an internationally famous Mississippi writer who made her home in Jackson for most of her adult life. Bolden Moore Library Closed

Due to construction in the parking lot of the Bolden Moore Library, the library will be closed until further notice. As of Monday, March 30th, 2015, the work was still ongoing. We apologize for any inconvenience. Patrons should use the book drop, which will be checked frequently, to return any books that are due.

March 22, 2015 | General News

Mayor Tony Yarber has provided copies of the "Bold New Infrastructure Improvement Plan" for public use at all 8 city library branches of the Jackson Hinds Library System. The plan, which is part of an integrated effort to inform the public about proposed plans to use funds from the recently passed 1% sales tax, is now available for public scrutiny at each local library branch in the City of Jackson. Jackson residents are encouraged to stop by the library and read the plan. Comment cards will soon be available for residents to use in providing feedback to city officials about the contents of the plan.

Our Metrocenter Mall Book Sale is an easy-to-locate and very secure shopping space which is open 6 days a week from 10 AM to 6 PM for your convenience. All items are $1.00 or less, and some free books are offered to the public everyday.
