• AARP Free Tax Filing Assistance

In cooperation with AARP, the Jackson Hinds Library System will again offer free tax assistance services at the Willie Morris, Quisenberry and Richard Wright during February, March and April. Please see the attached flyer for scheduled times.

• Wireless Printing for Laptops

All of our 15 library branches offer wireless printing services for laptop computer users.

• Ancestry.Com Library Edition

If your family tree is still missing a few branches, stop into Welty or Quisenberry Library to use one of the premier genealogical research tools at no cost. Search over 11 million genealogical records and 30,000 family records to find your family history.

• Morningstar Investment Research Center

The Morningstar Investment Research Center is now available for investors at the Eudora Welty Library in downtown Jackson. Use one of the most comprehensive investment online tools available today at no cost on library premises. Use your own laptop or one of our high-speed public access computers.

• Capital Area Bar Association Law Library

Eudora Welty Library hosts the CABA (Capital Area Bar Association) Online Law Library Service computers. Two research computers allow the public to search the Lexis Nexis legal databases. These services are available during regular library hours.

• JHLS Interlibrary Loan Program

If you are searching for a book outside of our regular library collections, we may be able to locate and borrow it for you from another library with our Interlibrary Loan Services.

• MAGNOLIA State-Funded Online Databases

The MAGNOLIA state-funded research database website provides free access to high-quality journal articles and other information for all ages and educational levels.

• Chilton's Online Automobile Repair Manuals

Put yourself in the driver\'s seat by accessing the JHLS Chilton\'s online repair databases available 24/7 from the library system\'s web page. Use this free resource when you need information about automobile and other engines from the year 1940 onwards. Chilton\'s contains print manuals and video clips to aid with engine repair work.

Welcome to the Jackson Hinds Library System website. Each of our 15 branches, located throughout the City of Jackson and Hinds County, is staffed by experienced employees waiting to help you find the information that you need. Hinds County residents can stop in today to pick up a free library card and begin using our services immediately. We welcome those who live outside our service area by offering a non-resident card which is available for only $25.00 a year for an individual or $50.00 for a family card. Learn more

Margaret Walker Alexander Centennial Lecture Series

The Jackson Hinds Library System, through a grant from the Mississippi Humanities Council, is celebrating the 100th Centennial of Margaret Walker Alexander, African American Poet and Author, by offering a lecture series in her honor during 2015. A second series of storytelling and writing workshops honoring Walker, sponsored by the Mississippi Arts Council, are also being held at JHLS library branches during her Centennial year.
