• About Library System

We provide public library service to urban metropolitan Jackson and Hinds County Mississippi, the state capital. Our goal is to provide quality service through our 15 locations.

• Executive Director & Team

The executive director is chief administrative officer over all fifteen Jackson Hinds Library System locations. Learn more here about our executive director and talented library team that operate it.

• Board of Trustees

Board meetings are usually held at 4:00 p.m. on the fourth Wednesday of each month, excluding June and December. Meetings are usually held in the Ellen Douglas Room, Eudora Welty Library. Meetings open to public.

3) Little Explorers Storytime

Calendar | Wednesday, February 21st at 3:30 p.m.

Little Explorers Story-time is designated to encourage reading and literacy to children in preschool and early elementary.

4) Black History Month Storytime Hour

Calendar | Wednesday, February 21, 2018 @ 10:00 am

As Black History Month continues, we will be reading, "All the Colors of the Earth" by Sheila Hamanaka. We will also create our own colorful craft. Snacks will be provided. Preschoolers are welcome to attend. 10:00 AM

5) Storytime Wednesday

Calendar | Come join us as we read, Minty, a story of young Harriet Tubman, by Alan Schroeder. For craft time, you can design and give meaning to your own freedom quilt. 10:30 AM

6) After School Storytime

Calendar | Thursday, February 22nd at 4 p.m.

After School Story-time is designated for kids of all ages to encourage reading and literacy!

Calendar | We will be reading, Anna's Best Friends, by Christy Webster and Summer Bliss, by Madeline Grey. Elsa and Anna come to life as beautiful spoons for craft time! 10:30 AM

11) Medgar Evers Library

Library Locations | The Medgar Evers Library, which was named for the Civil Rights activist, Medgar Evers, is located in Northwest Jackson. The library celebrates the Medgar Evers Homecoming each June, and a historic statue of Evers is located on library grounds. The library also hosts the Annual Juneteenth Celebration.
We have Summer Reading Programs, The Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Essay Contest, The Annual Health Fair, Storytime Wednesdays and Fantastic Friday Storytimes at 10:00 AM, Teen Programs and Showtime Movie Matinees every Saturday at 11 AM.
