The Board of Trustees strives to provide an atmosphere in which library patrons and employees can use library materials and services without being disturbed or impeded by other
library users, be secure and comfortable and have access to materials and facilities that are readily available and in good condition.

JHLS provides Internet access in accordance with the Library's Mission Statement and the American Library Association's Library Bill of Rights statement. This Internet Safety Policy was effective July 1, 2002. Download the PDF for more information.
Basic personal knowledge of computer use, software applications, and some knowledge about how to use the Internet are expected of patrons. Although library staff is able to offer searching suggestions and answer some questions, they cannot provide in-depth training on the Internet and personal computer use because of existing duties. Jackson Hinds Library System offers wireless "WiFi" access to the Internet as part of the library system's service to its patrons. When using the JHLS' Internet service patrons are accepting the Internet Safety Policy. Patrons should take time to read the policy before using the Internet and accepting its terms.
