Eliminate Those Overdue Fines with Foods for Fines

January 18, 2019 | General News

How does it work? Two 13 ounce cans of food can be exchanged for $1.00 off a library fine at any JHLS library branch at any time during October. Foods must be clean, have the original label and have a current expiration date.

Customers should bring cans to the Circulation Desk of any JHLS library branch and the library staff will help them waive the fines on their blocked cards. Sorry, but collection agency fees are not eligible to be reduced in the Food for Fines program.

As donations are collected, the Mississippi Food Network will gather up the cans and deliver them to a nearby food pantry. All food stays in the local community.

Don't have a library fine? You can still bring canned goods into a JHLS library branch and contribute it to this food drive.
