We provide public library service to urban metropolitan Jackson and Hinds County Mississippi, the state capital. Our goal is to provide quality service through our 15 locations.

• Executive Director & Team

The executive director is chief administrative officer over all fifteen Jackson Hinds Library System locations. Learn more here about our executive director and talented library team that operate it.

• Board of Trustees

Board meetings are usually held at 4:00 p.m. on the fourth Wednesday of each month, excluding June and December. Meetings are usually held in the Ellen Douglas Room, Eudora Welty Library. Meetings open to public.

• Shelver (Part-Time)

JHLS has an immediate opening for a Shelver. The position is part-time (up to 17 hours per week).

Under the supervision of the Branch Manager or Branch Librarian, a Shelver shelves library materials; assists patrons with simple directional questions; performs other duties as necessary.

• Social Media Web Services Coordinator

A Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university is required. One to two years of experience in content marketing, digital communications or related experience. A proven track record in social media strategy and management. Experience planning, managing, and executing successful social media campaigns. The ability to write creatively, clearly, and compellingly. Experience with web publishing, Adobe software, Microsoft Office, HTML, and basic content management systems. Programming knowledge, Adobe Creative Suite experience a plus.

Develop and implement a strategic plan to grow JHLS' social media audience for key demographics. Strengthen the JHLS brand and engage our community on social media by producing creative and compelling content. Manage day-to-day execution of social media messaging. Update and maintain the JHLS website and the social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, etc.). Write clear, compelling communications and feature stories about various branches/topics for social media.

40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Salary is commensurate with education and experience.

• Youth Services Assistant

A Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education or a related field is required. Excellent customer service skills; knowledge of children's literature; prior experience working with children. Must have good writing skills: be artistic , creative, innovative, outgoing, and enthusiastic. General knowledge of library use and procedures; children's activities and programming preferred. Perform other duties as assigned.

Work requires standing, stooping, and bending for extended periods of time and the ability to lift up to 40 pounds on an occasional basis.

The successful candidate will work 40 hours per week, scheduled within the library's hours of operation.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
