About Medgar Evers Library

The Medgar Evers Library, which was named for the Civil Rights activist, Medgar Evers, is located in Northwest Jackson. The library celebrates the Medgar Evers Homecoming each June, and a historic statue of Evers is located on library grounds. The library also hosts the Annual Juneteenth Celebration.
We have Summer Reading Programs, The Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Essay Contest, The Annual Health Fair, Storytime Wednesdays and Fantastic Friday Storytimes at 10:00 AM, Teen Programs and Showtime Movie Matinees every Saturday at 11 AM. Summer Reading Event: Myrtle the Turtle from MDOT talks to kids about how important it is to not litter. The program targets school age children, grades K-3. Included in the approximate 30-minute presentation is an eight-minute animated musical video.

Walter, the world's biggest Muppet fan, is on vacation in Los Angeles with his brother Gary and Gary's girlfriend, Mary. They discover that greedy Tex Richman (Chris Cooper) plans to raze Muppet Studios and drill for oil on the spot. Desperate to save the Muppets' former stomping grounds, the three friends join forces with Kermit to reunite Miss Piggy, Fozzie and the rest of the gang to hold a telethon to raise the $10 million they need to save the studio.
