About Medgar Evers Library

The Medgar Evers Library, which was named for the Civil Rights activist, Medgar Evers, is located in Northwest Jackson. The library celebrates the Medgar Evers Homecoming each June, and a historic statue of Evers is located on library grounds. The library also hosts the Annual Juneteenth Celebration.
We have Summer Reading Programs, The Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Essay Contest, The Annual Health Fair, Storytime Wednesdays and Fantastic Friday Storytimes at 10:00 AM, Teen Programs and Showtime Movie Matinees every Saturday at 11 AM. January 24, 2018 | Events for Toddlers

Come join this fun storytime with Mississippi Smiles. We will be reading, Max and Mo makes a Snowman, by Patricia Lakin. It is wintertime and Max and Mo want to go play in the snow. If only it was not so cold out there! Instead, Max and Mo decide to make a snowman in the warmth of the art room. Would you like to make a snowman too? There will also be a Snoball toss, a Penguin disc game, a Penguin thermometer craft and Snow inspired snacks! Preschoolers welcome. 10:00 AM

January 26, 2018 | Events for Adults

Come to the Medgar Evers Library and learn how to play Bingo the Library way! Join staff for a fun event with light refreshments. Adults and Senior adults welcome. 11:00 AM

January 27, 2018 | Events for Teens

Come join us for some Super Mario Bros Fun! Young Adults and teens ages 12-19 are invited to gather with their friends and enjoy a variety of board games, party games, and video games. We have a Playstation 4, Wii U, and several board games, like King of Tokyo, Apples to Apples, Jenga, as well as classics like chess and checkers. Game time starts immediately following the Showtime Movie Matinee. Snacks are served while supplies last. Feel free to bring your own board and video games for PS4 or the Wii U. All games must be G-Teen Rated! So, come join us!

January 27, 2018 | Movie Events

This movie is fun for the entire family. It's about a young tech whiz named Hiro who must save his city with the help of his inflatable robot. Come watch it with us! 11:00 AM.
