Every year, October reminds us of how important it is to have a breast cancer detection plan and to encourage ourselves and others to remain aware.

Visit our Breast Cancer Awareness display at the Medgar Evers Library to check out books about how you can remain vigilant, get checked, or learn more about the fight against breast cancer. If we don't have the book you're looking for, we can help you find it!

Oct 02, 2017 - Oct 30, 2017 | Events for Teens

It's more than building robots! The First Tech Challenge team and the Spark-O-Matic group have joined forces and are challenged to design, build, program, and operate robots to compete in a head-to-head challenge in an alliance format. Participants call it, "the hardest fun you'll ever have!"

October 21, 2017 | Events for All Ages

If you're a great Lego builder or a first timer, this is the place for you.

Open to anyone interested, there is no need to sign up. This will give children the opportunity to get creative and build anything they choose with LOTS of Legos. They can either work on their own creations or build as a team.

The library will provide the Legos, while the kids provide the imagination! All materials must stay at the library, so bring a camera to capture your adventures.

October 25, 2017 | Events for All Ages

October is National Animal Safety and Prevention Month; a month dedicated to promoting the safe practices of handling and caring for both domestic and wild animals. Animals play an important part in our everyday lives, even if we don't personally have pets. So it's vital to make sure that they are treated kindly and with the respect and care they deserve. Join Mr. Corey Wright of the Mississippi Natural Science Museum for this fun, educational event. He's bringing animals! So, come join us. 10:00 AM

October 27, 2017 | Events for School Aged Children

Come out to the Medgar Evers Library on October 27th, for a fun "Fantastic Friday" Afternoon Story Hour for kids and adults alike. It's getting close to Halloween and we have a nice Pumpkin Art craft for all children in attendance to make, create and take home to their parents. All children must bring a small picture of themselves for this fun craft. While the children are enjoying themselves, ask any member of our courteous staff about book recommendations! All ages welcome. 3:00 PM
