About Margaret Walker Alexander Library

The Margaret Walker Alexander Library, conveniently located on Robinson Street, is named for Mississippi author, Margaret Walker Alexander, author of the novel Jubilee and poetry book For My People, among other books. The library houses the Margaret Walker African American Literature Center which contains a wide variety of literature and books about the African American cultural experience. The library features a rain forest-themed area for children and several exhibit cases about the life and work of Margaret Walker Alexander.

October 25, 2017 | Events for Toddlers

Come join the fun as we read, Minnie Costume Contest By: Shelia Higginson and Haunted Clubhouse by, Muriel Pepin. Preschoolers welcome. We will decorate a Jack-O-Lantern for a fun craft. Sing along and Dance along after story time. 10:00 AM
