POSITION: Branch Supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree required.  Public library experience preferred. Ability to organize and implement library functions; ability to express ideas clearly through both written and oral communication; must possess a basic computer knowledge; ability to work well with the public and possess good customer service behaviors, which includes a knowledge of the community served.


DUTIES:
Supervises all branch operations including, but not limited to: planning and implementing branch library programs, adult, young adult and children’s services, and other regular library staff duties.  Supervises and prepares work schedules for part-time employees.  Provides reference and information services including accessing online data services. Plan, prepare and present story times, summer reading activities and special programs for youth.  Assists library users in making effective use of library resources; seeks to maintain good public relations between the branch and the local community.  Responsible for selection of branch materials.  This position answers to the Assistant Director for Public Service. Performs other related duties as necessary.


HOURS:
40 hours per week, scheduled within the library hours of operation (9:00 am – 6:00 pm, Monday – Friday, 10:00 am – 2:00 pm Saturday). Also scheduled three to four times per year at the Eudora Welty Library (1:00 pm – 5:00 pm Sunday).


COMPENSATION:
$20,100 with an excellent benefits package including health, dental, vision, disability and life insurance; State of Mississippi retirement plan.
